Professional sport has been my entire life, at the age of season I was recruited to the NRL and played 15 seasons in the NRL and English Super League. Upon retirement I entered the coaching ranks and have coached at all professional levels. Along with Rugby League there has been one other constant in my life and that has been the love of the thoroughbred. I was hooked as a 12 year old when I had my $3 each way on a winner that paid $159 the win, a good thing I am not sure. What I am sure of is that the thrill of being a winning owner is like no other experience in life. Whether it be getting a winner at Toowoomba on a Saturday night, during Melbourne carnival week or in Qld’s biggest  races the exhilaration of being in the winners stall is unparalleled.  As I now move into the breeding and syndication side of racing I do so with confidence that the adventure will be just as rewarding as the previous 6 years where I was fortunate to be part of group 1 victories in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

I am a born and bred Ipswich boy. Similar to Andrew professional sport has played a large role in my life. My professional rugby league career commenced at the Gold Coast Seagulls back in 1994.  I continued at the gold coast with the Chargers, then two years with the mighty South Sydney Rabbitohs before finishing off my career with the North Queensland Cowboys. The highlight of playing days was fulfilling a childhood dream of representing Queensland in the State of Origin Series which I achieved in 1997 under the Tutelage of the “Fat Man” Fatty Vaughtan.

After completing my football career myself and a couple of friends ventured into the exciting world of racing ownership. Our first horse had very limited ability and failed to win a race. However we were determined. At South Sydney we meet a young strapping lad by the name of Tony Gollan trying to make his own way into the big time. A few years later we formed an association with Tony and decided to go to the Magic Millions QTIS sales with him and purchase a share in a horse which he bought which I later named “Temple of Boom”. The rest they say is history.

Myself and Andrew have been an extremely successful owners to date and we both feel very fortunate to have owned Group 1 horses such as Temple of Boom, Spirit of Boom and Angelic Light (Group 1 Placed, Group 2 Winner) to name a few. Talking with racing identities that have been in the game for many years it seems we have been hit with the “Lucky Stick”.  In this game you definitely need some luck which we hope to bring to our new business venture.
MY fondest days as a professional athlete when I look back on were the early days when I first made it “to the big time”. It was the same in the early days of horse ownership. Recalling the first time we ventured to Flemington back a few years with Temple of Boom brings back emotions I have never experienced before. The little known Queenslander stunned the Melbourne racing fraternity storming to victory down the famous Flemington Straight in front of 75000 people on OAKS day. To have my beautiful wife and friends experience what we did on that day (one of the best in my life) was simply amazing. The feeling is hard to put into words and if you talk to any winning owner on a big race day I’m sure they would say the same.

This is what I hope we can offer prospective owners in our horse syndication venture. We cannot promise our clients the world because statistics don’t lie. Only a small percentage of horses make it to the big time. But what we WILL provide is the best race day experience possible whether it is at Gatton in South East Queensland, Murwillumbah in Northern NSW or Royal Randwick on Golden Slipper day.  For us, it is all about the occasion “A great day at the races”.  Getting spruced up, enjoying the company of friends, shouting the wife a new dress and shoes and hopefully having a horse that can win some races. There are few better feelings in this world than being in the “Winners Circle” and making your way to the “Winners Bar” for some free cold beverages.
Come join us on this ride. It won’t be all smooth sailing; anyone who tells you any different is lying. There will be ups and downs, I’m sure more ups than downs but we will take this journey together. I’m sure you will meet some wonderful people along the way and have some great days at the races to look back on for the rest of your life. We certainly will need some luck but as people say “some people are plain lucky” which very fortunately we have been. We are hoping some of “our luck” rubs off on our clients and together we can celebrate many victories and great days out at the races. Look forward to forming partnerships with you all and having heaps of fun along the way.

Cheers Jeremy
