Inglis Bound in 2019 with Yearlings

It is somewhat ironic that the vast majority of our yearlings will this year be at Southern Sales under the Inglis Banner. Whilst we received virtually every sale we desired with Inglis the Magic Millions boys were obviously less impressed though to be fair they did have large numbers to cull.

It is a similar story across Queensland where many of the peripheral players have struggled to get their yearlings into the Magic Millions Session 1 or Session 2 sale. Included in our draft of 8 are 5 Spirit of Boom yearling's.

The success of the March QTIS sale for Spirit last year means that Magic Millions can drop them back into that sale to prop it up. That does help the Qld studs and vendors with breed back yearlings considerably as the Southern buyers who normally wouldn't frequent that sale can buy a yearling they can return with qualified for either Bobs or Vobis as well as the progeny of Spirit of Boom.

The sale in March was the perfect storm with Spirit of Boom snubbed somewhat in earlier sales which meant agents were going home with his progeny no matter the price. The same thing will not happen this year as those buyers will purchase at the earlier sales.

In the end though we are stoked to be sending our yearlings to Inglis Sales as they have been great for our business. At the same time however being Queenslander's through and through we would love to have more of our yearlings in the best sale in Queensland as well.

INGLIS EASTER SALE: Session 1 2019

Spirit of Boom x Limealicious Filly: Full brother to EF TROOP, Aquis have just purchased the 2016 full brother for $500,000 from James Moore in a private sale. Spirit of Boom produced CHAMPAGNE BOOM last week who won the Listed Debutant Stakes in Melbourne(1st 2-y-o runner of the season).

EF TROOP At 9 months

Vancouver x Perpetuum Filly: (also accepted MM January). 1/2 sister to 4 Stakes Winners meaning she has a broodmare pedigree and will be worth money regardless of her race track performances. She is by the Golden Slipper winner Vancouver whose first yearling crop through the sales rings will be sort after.

INGLIS CLASSIC SALE: Session 1 2019

Spirit of Boom x Miss Leibert Colt: Rated in the Top 3 yearlings from Eureka Stud. Miss Leibert was a very good galloper winning $186,000 in prizemoney and this colt has been likened to EF TROOP. Spirit of  Boom has now sired 6 Black type winners from mares far inferior to those Southern stallions have received.

At 9 months

Nicconi x Florestans Match Filly: Imported mare Florestans Match progeny have developed well throughout yearling preparations in the past. This fillies best asset is she moves like a gazelle. Nicconi is the affordable stallion that everyone now wants. He has served massive numbers over the past 2 seasons and was fully booked this breeding season

INGLIS MELBOURNE PREMIER SALE: Session 1 2019

Spirit of Boom x Ready To Belong Colt: Arguably the best bred Spirit of Boom in any sale in 2019. Ready to Belong is out of the 4-time Group 2 winning mare BELONG TO MANY and is a half to the exciting Dual Group 3 winnerNATIVE SOLDIER who has Group 1 ability as well as the stakes performing mare Majestic Lass. This colt has a full sister on the ground (Spirit House, 2-y-o) who is showing extreme promise in the Tony Gollan stable.

2016 Version in the Gollan Stable: Spirit House very exciting prospect

Spirit of Boom x Yatala Filly: (also accepted for March QTIS Sale). Yatala was a Stakes Placed mare who had a recent trial winning 2-y-o named Whitty Girl. She died giving birth to this filly. A compact type and in the mould of Spirit of Boom's best progeny.

Toronado x Chevaleresse Filly: Chevaleresse is by the best stallion to ever stand in this country DANEHILL. Danehill's number of direct broodmares on the ground is dwindling and this mare could prove a valuable commodity if she can perform on the track. By the very good European racehorse Toronado who is doing the job with his first racing crop in Europe.

Very Nice Filly: Claudia Schiffer of the sale

MARCH QTIS SALE 2019

Spirit of Boom x Flawless Choice: Flawless Choice was a 4-time city winning mare and is by the outstanding stallion REDOUTE'S CHOICE. This filly is bred on the most successful line of breeding thus far for Spirit of Boom being the 4 over 3 Danehill cross. Spirit of Boom has produced JONKER and EF TROOP amongst others on this cross.

SPIRIT OF BOOM POPS THE CORKS

Spirit of Boom delivered a decisive counter attack on the weekend with his first 2-y-o runner of the year CHAMPAGNE BOOM unleashing a devastating sprint to claim the Listed Debutant Stakes.

There have been plenty of people potting him over the performances of his 3-y-o's and as soon as he had a downturn in performances they were always going to start canning him.

We all know that none of the experts gave him a chance at stud and by him doing what he did at stud in his first year it really ignited a fight with their egos.

It came as no surprise when you started to hear outlandish statements from these types of people. The best was one person likening him to Sidereus, yes exactly who is Sidereus. They need to ask themselves are they being serious.

If you look into the performance of his 3yo's on face value it is somewhat disappointing but when you take in the complete picture you start to realize the circumstances and the fact it is only a matter of time before a barrage of winners arrive.

Since the 2018-19 season started on August 01 his progeny have drawn the outside 3 barriers 84% of the time. Unless you are Winx barriers do matter. He has had 10 3-y-o's run 2nd since the start of the new season and without a doubt at least half of those would have won had they drawn the right barrier.

As this is typed the acceptances for the weekend have come through and hallelujah Ef Troop has drawn 3 and Jonker 2 in the Brian Crowley Stakes. We now just hope the track dries out as most of his progeny thus far have been duffers in the wet.

OUR RACEHORSES : 2-y-o's

It is a very exciting time of the year when your babies start to get into race preparations and you start to get a real gauge on their ability. Whilst some will need time, others are on the road to the track.

EARLY TYPES: Pre - Christmas

Steel Pier: This fella is about to undergo the ultimate gear change and we hope to get him to the races before christmas. At this stage we will target the Inglis Series race in February pending ability and how he holds up in preparation.

Dream Ahead x Meiko's Diamond Filly: Looks ready to go and will be given very chance to get to the races this preparation. If she holds up she will be targeted towards the Magic Millions, again pending ability.

Matt Dunn Racing

POST XMAS: Early 2019

So You Think x Follow The Till Filly: Could even get to the races this preparation before christmas but is more likely to get there on her next preparation which puts her at around a February/March debut.

Missari: A real improver who finished her recent preparation with a handy jump out. Still plenty of development to go but could also get there next preparation. She is 1 week into a 6 week spell at Telemon Thoroughbreds at Innisplain.

Olympic Glory x Absolute Faith Filly: Structually well developed with knees fully closed months ago but continues to go through growth spurts. Has gone from an out and out sprinting type to a filly who looks like getting over ground. Every chance to get to the races next preparation. 1 week into a 4 week spell.

Spirit of Boom x Miss Leibert Gelding: Swampy the Swayback nearly got to the races in his first preparation. In the end he went slightly shin sore and hence he has been sent for a spell. All being well will get to the races next preparation.

MID YEAR: April to June

Wandjina x Idriess Filly: Whilst the progeny of Wandjina have had the most 2yo trialist's in Sydney and track performers of all the first season sires they have been pushed to get there. This filly will improve with time and is most likely to get to the races around April.

Written Tycoon x Honey Flower: The girl with the pedigree by Written Tycoon who can get a top class racehorse out of a Listed winning mare. She was always going to need time but is starting to develop. Anytime between April and June is plausible. 15% REMAINING !!

Click here for 19th September Update

Al Maher x Shirra Nui: A typical strong Al Maher colt. He moves outstanding and will be a very nice older 2yo who will improve as an older horse. He is in the mould of the best progeny from the stallion. He is currently 5 weeks into a 6 week spell. A very nice horse who will prosper with time. He will be close to getting to the track around May/June. 10% REMAINING !!

ON THE TRACK: Older Horses

Snicki Minaj: After her prolonged spell she ran a nice race first up before not handling the wet conditions last time at Doomben. The jury is still out whether she has come back as a 3yo after trialing only average in both of her trials.

El Campeador: Some call him the thief and he is a very unpredictable commodity. On his day he is as good as anything running around in his distance range. On a bad day he runs like a BM58 horse. Has long preparations and still pays his way. He will step out over 2000m this weekend at Doomben.

The Great Boombino: The daughter of Spirit of Boom is the most nominated racehorse in Qld with the wet weather being around. She needs a dry track to show her best and should improve over longer distances. Could be racing at any 1 of 3 south eastern tracks this weekend.

Boomtown Lass: Coming along nicely under the tutelage of Chris Anderson. Had a nice jump out last weekend and will look to head to the races in the next 3 weeks.

SOCIAL CLUB

The first social club event of season 3 comes around next weekend on Cox Plate Day at Fiction Bar in Cleveland. It is the first of 3 planned events with a trek to the December 14th meeting at the Murwillumbah races next followed by the finale at the Gold Coast Races for a charity race day.

It promises to be a great valued day. The $75 for the day includes travel to and from the Gold Coast, Full smorgasboard buffet and a 5-hour drink package. This has been made possible due to fellow social club member and Fiction owner Jamie Haimes matching our spend at his bar.

There will also be a free bet frenzy on the day as we sit back and enjoy what he hope will be watching Winx further indent herself into the history books.
