CHRISTMAS IS HERE AS FOALS ARE DELIVERED

This time of the year is like christmas coming early for breeders and owners. We have started the breeding season off in the best of fashion with 2 colts who are healthy and their mothers likewise.
Most breeders want colts as they sell better through the ring and it feeds our obsession of trying to find the next stallion. Our first mares to foal down have produced colts by 2 of the best stallions in Australia in Written Tycoon and Choisir.
Choisir has been doing the job for the past decade whilst Written Tycoon has done it the hard way but has risen to the top and is now standing at Stud for $110,000. We purchased both of these mares in foal and to come away with 2 colts is a very good result.

By the time the next newsletter is typed, we hope to have had another 5 mares foal down producing 5 healthy foals. Those mares yet to foal down are carrying progeny from Pierro, Spirit of Boom, Flying Artie, Extreme Choice and Outreach.

2YO'S SET FOR THE TRACK

As we hastily name our 2yo's that can only mean one thing, we are getting closer to seeing them on the track. We have already named three of our 2yo's and are in the process of naming another 3.

The naming process is a democratic masterclass and at times to the detriment of the horses name. Like beauty is in the eye of the beholder so too is a name. It is said time after time but a name is as good or as bad pending the ability of the horse.

An update on the names of our 2yo's so far for those wanting to watch their progression:

Wandjina x Idriess: Our Girl Wanda

More Than Ready x Miss Otto: Missari

Pierro x Apprise: Steel Pier

ON THE TRACK

It has been a quiet time on the track though we have been in the money when taking our chances. We had El Campeador run a very good race at good odds 3 weeks ago and also cash a cheque of over $10,000 when he ran second after flashing home from the back of the field. He is a marvel this horse in terms of his stints in the stable. He will have 9 months in the stable and he is able to do this as his runs are spaced and goes around once a month.

Snicki Minaj returned from a 6 month hiatus to finish a nice 4th in her comeback run carrying 59kg which for a small filly is a lot of weight. The ride from Brad Stewart was a peach and it means that we go to the races Saturday week with a horse that didn't have a gut buster first up. He could easily have got caught up in the speed battle, have her wide and fade out in the straight. Instead he eased her back into a spot worse than mid field but then didn't go around a horse. That ride meant she goes away from that race upon return with a happy experience rather than one that could make her sour.

The Great Boombino also returned from a decent spell and ran a very encouraging 4th in a Maiden that was quite strong for a Toowoomba meeting. She settled back in the field and made up good ground before feeling the pinch late. She should improve from that run and we have no doubt she will be winning a race or 2. She is by Spirit Of Boom and is a very nice looking horse, when she works it all out she will be bothering the judge.

LOCK IT IN EDDIE : SOCIAL CLUB & BRT EVENTS COMING UP

There are a number of events upcoming over the next 3-4 months. Our social club kicked off last weekend and it was a case of the old Punters Tale.... So close yet so far. The events are as follows:

27TH OCTOBER: FICTION BAR

The first social club event is on Cox Plate Day at the FICTION BAR in Cleveland on the 27th October. This is the first of 3 organised events and are a major part of being a member of the social club.

The day will kick off at 12pm and officially finish at 5pm though for those wanting to kick on there is no better place on the water than this venue. The day will incorporate a FREE BET FRENZY courtesy of Social Club Sponsor Ladbrokes.

It will also include an all day buffet style menu and our host for the day Social Club member Jamie Haimes will contribute with matching our spend at the bar for the day. We will package it up and have a set price which will cover the 12pm to 5pm period.

For those not in the social club and wanting to attend please contact as we will be more than happy for you to join us. There will be bus/es running from the Gold Coast to the venue and back with pick up's at designated areas along the way.

6th NOVEMBER: MELBOURNE CUP DAY - MERRIMAC TAVERN

The Merrimac Tavern have offered BOOM RACING THOROUGHBREDS a room for the day in a great position beside the TAB area. We are yet to lock it in and are gauging interest first.

It will be an informal day away from the sweeps, nibblies, beers and bets. It is a good venue geographically and being able to have a room for BRT and friends on Melbourne Cup day away from the hustle and bustle which will be going on outside is a good option.

For those interested can you respond to this newsletter, friends and family are also welcome.

14TH DECEMBER : 2ND SOCIAL CLUB EVENT/XMAS PARTY - MURWILLUMBAH RACES

The christmas twilight meeting at Murwillumbah is always very well attended. It is a very nice racecourse and we have booked the Upstairs dining area out for the meeting.

It will be a packaged event with beverages and food included in price. This event is open to all BRT owners, social club members and their families and friends.

There will be limited spaces and we will send out further information with costs etc in the next week or so. We will run buses from the Gold Coast for this event and can sort out accommodation options for those travelling longer distances.
